I've been working on a lot of exciting stuff for the bakery, but most of it I'm wary of putting up online until after its been delivered to the clients or aired on TV. So a lot of this stuff is old. Its also property of Carlo's Bake Shop. The new exciting stuff will just have to wait until I have permission to share.

The reference photo and the concept art behind the final sculpt.

A lot of our customers love to include their favorite team with their own special event.

A themed wedding cake. I only did the bride and groom dressed as their favorite superheros. Juan made the orange lantern.

An Overdue Update

Its been a while since I posted anything here. I keep forgetting that this is for all of my art projects, not just My Clementine, which has been put on hold while I pursue some potentially paying projects. My Clementine is not dead! Its just going to have to wait.  I should probably bring this page up to date.

Ok. Here's what I'm doing for pay right now:

These are just a few of the sculptures I've been making at Carlo's Bakery over the past two and a half years. They're made of modeling chocolate and edible pigment, and yes, except for the armature wire, they are entirely edible.

Iwo Jima monument

My own version of Max, from Where the Wild Things Are.

A giant, two foot tall, pink, glittery sparkle-donkey jumping over the rainbow.

another sparkle-donkey, only smaller, white, incandescent, and jumping over a puffy cloud.

Outside of work, I've been working with an author on a graphic novel called The Adventures  of Punch MacBolt and the Pirate Lovers. The first few sample pages and more info on the project can be seen on my other blog: http://punchmacbolt.blogspot.com/

Recondeconstruct

The graphic Novel, formerly called Choke,
is being renamed the My Clementine to avoid confusion with Chuck Palanuik's novel Choke which has a main character of the same name. David and I think this is a good change; it ties in with the theme of the story a lot better. Victor, the main character has gone through some severe changes as well in appearance; from the Tim Burton looking type of artist to maybe a bit more Hipster.... Hopefully he stays a likable character.

The plan is to publish the story as a short series with several books. Short teaser stories will precede the main story hopefully to help advertise and promote interest in publishers. A more formal website will be constructed later this year where you'll be able to view these samplers. (I hope)

Its a Mad, Mad World

With so many projects going on, its been tricky just remembering I'm still in school. Ah well. Graduation is near, but I'm not too stressed. I suppose I should be polishing my demo reel instead of messing around with all this other stuff, but I'm ready to move on to stuff I want to do while I have the spare time.

I've fully immersed myself in a short animation project with some fellow Ex'pression students. That's about to go into production and we can hopefully look forward to seeing it in festivals this summer. I'm very excited for its potential to rock. Too bad its still at a stage where I can't talk to much about it.

David Beck, my room mate and I are still facing the previs of our up coming graphic novel. While David writes the story, I'll be doing lots of concept art. I'll be posting some of that here. I'm hoping to get the whole thing posted on a website when its done (or close to done,) and David's hoping to see it published. Though, at this rate, it may be a while before we even see the first issue. Right now I'm really rooting for David, who has plenty on his plate already, to meet his goal of finishing the script before I graduate.

Ooh, how lovely, Gromit.

Cheese!

No, a blog! Well, all of my favorite graphic artists were doing it, so I thought I should do one, too. I know I don't talk a whole lot, but when I do, isn't it usually about stuff like art or what I'm doing at Ex'pression College? Yeah, so those of you who can stand listening to me wramble about that stuff (or at least would rather skim through the boring parts,) can now enjoy my life as a blog.

For those of you who might not know me, a short intro:

I, Tyne Delwiche, strive with all my might to illustrate stories, invent interesting new characters with in dept persona's, and bring to life the creative perspective of my good friends. Sometimes just with simple sketches, sometimes full blown animation. Ok, I like to draw... and animate; but in a way that suggests life! If my characters don't look like they could move or breath or bleed, then I've failed! Sounds dramatic, I know, but there are a lot of great artists out there that I feel the need to keep in stride with.

Right now I'm going to a little digital art school in Emeryville California called Ex'pression College for Digital Art. I'm in the Animation and Visual Arts program currently, but not for long. I'm about to graduate and I'm looking forward to being unleashed on the graphic art world.

I mean to post a little art work here, maybe some current projects in process, but I do already have a deviantart account ( http://measlyflee.deviantart.com/ ) and I wouldn't want this to get redundant, so I'll try to keep things a bit segregated here.

As far as current projects I hope to see up in public eye soon:
My friend David Beck and I are collaborating on a graphic novel. Its still in previs right now, but the storie's almost done and soon I can start thumbnails.
Also building a 2D animation reel as well as a modeling reel, most likely. The animation reel is almost complete, but there's no rest for the wicked: the animating continues.
One illustrated childrens book commission still in the works.
Aaand one website: Under construction.
